Each piece is hand built from porcelain by rolling out the clay and folding it around a base rather than using a wheel. The result of this unusual method of making is that each piece is individual. The pot are bisque fired, then dipped in glazes and fired to over 1200C. The workshop makes Tea & Coffee pots, mugs, jug and beakers in many sizes and in at least 18 different colours. The glazes range from traditional earth colours and celadons to bright mordern glazes and special mixes.

The advantage of hand building porcelain is that the vessel’s rim can be thin which is a pleasure to drink from and it has the magical quality of translucence. There’s also that satisfying ‘ting’ sound when you flick it.

Richard Pomeroy Porcelain is dishwasher and microwave safe - but be aware of thermal shock - do not pour boiling warer straight into porcelain without warming the vessel first or put a little cold water or milk in before. High fired porcelain is vitrified and shares many of the same properties as glass.

Colour is key with Pomeroy and we want to brighten up peoples’ lives and kitchens. So there’s a huge range - you can choose all the colours in the rainbow and more. Some of our customers like to match their selection or alternatively have one of each-a rainbow collection!

You can buy this unique pottery direct from our online shop and if you are local you can also make an appointment to visit our studio for collection.
